Behind the Wrench
From Australia, to Japan, and now a Colchester local.
Adam Cobain, Chief Cycologist at CCC.
At the heart of Colchester Cycle Care is Adam Cobain — a lifelong cyclist, mechanic, and bike fit specialist with decades of experience across every corner of the cycling world. From BMX racing as a kid in the 1980s, to elite-level road and mountain bike racing in Japan and Australia, Adam has lived and breathed bikes his whole life.
In 2014, he launched one of Japan’s first cycling-focused lodges and created RideJapan, a company that’s guided thousands of riders through world-class tours and events. He’s worked with tourism agencies, designed cycling strategies, and even guided the U.S. Ambassador to Japan on multiple cycling trips.
Now home in Essex County, Adam is channeling that same passion and expertise into Colchester Cycle Care. Whether it’s a simple flat fix, a precision performance tune, or helping someone fall in love with their first road bike, Adam brings the same care and dedication to every ride.
At Colchester Cycle Care, you’re not just getting a mechanic — you’re getting the insight of a rider who has lived cycling at every level, and who truly wants to see the local cycling community grow.

A Life Behind Bars

From everyday riders to elite athletes, Adam’s passion is helping cyclists ride smoother, faster, and more comfortably — keeping the local community rolling strong.
